My Story
Growing up in Birmingham, Alabama, inspired by my mother's 30 years of teaching, I studied education at Alabama State University and moved to Atlanta to teach. Five years in, I discovered the power of hands-on teaching at conferences, brought it into my classroom, and watched my students light up. Seeing science pushed aside for reading and math, I made it the anchor across every subject. That transdisciplinary approach became my mantra.
Why Do I Teach?
Teaching science is my calling. I believe every student, whatever their background, has a love for learning and the capacity to excel. By setting high expectations and building a positive classroom, I help students rise above challenges through dedication and hard work. Watching them discover what they're capable of is what fuels my purpose as an educator.
My Values
For STEM learning to be meaningful, students must actively DO science, technology, engineering, and math, in a positive and timely way, so their confidence and competence grow together. Every experience I design builds problem-solving, critical thinking, and scientific and mathematical reasoning.
